Hello Crochet Friends!  

It’s Cyndi!  You might know that a few months ago my sister Tiff has been teaching me how to crochet and I am absolutely loving it!

At the moment I am completely in love with the Moss Stitch! 

This amazing stitch is so fun to design with because of the way the stitch interacts with color to make the most glorious patterns! 

And now that the holidays are upon us, my inspiration for this Fun Fringe Scarf is the color palette from my favorite holiday TV show,  Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

I absolutely love all the cheerful, festive, and groovy colors!  It makes me want to hear Holly Jolly Christmas sung by Burl Ives!

My color muse for this project is the always optimistic and always helpful Yukon Cornelius!  I made a little cut paper version of Mr. Cornelius, so that he could model the Fun Fringe Hat and Fun Fringe Scarf for all of you!

The reasons I think you will like this scarf pattern is that not only is it colorful and fun to make, but because it works up fast and easy. 

The color changes only happen after six feet or more of relaxing crocheting and as with all of Daisy Farm Crafts Fun Fringe Hat and Scarf creations, the fringe is built into the pattern.  

So you don’t have to go back and make cut-fringe or pom-pom’s because your colorful holiday scarf is finished and ready for gift-giving, or just keeping and snuggling around your neck!

I used two skeins of Caron one Pound and two of the Red Heart Supersaver yarn.  And for any of you bargain lovers out there– I expect to make several scarf and hat sets for just about $35!

Materials 

Caron One Pound (100% acrylic, 7 oz/198g, 364 yds/ 333 m, 4 weight worsted)

1 skein Claret

1 skein Faded Brick 

Red Heart Super Saver  (100% acrylic, 198 g/7 oz, 333 meters/364 yards, 4 weight worsted)

1 skein Cornmeal

1 skein Light Periwinkle 

Size I 5.5mm hook, tapestry needle, scissors, measuring tape

Size

Finished size 72 in x 6 in

Stitches

Single Crochet (SC): Insert hook, yarn over and pull a loop back through, yarn over and pull through all loops on hook. 

Slip Stitch:  Insert hook into chain, YO and pull through two loops on hook.

Pattern

Chain 200 (or any even number needed for approximately 6 feet.) 

ROW 1: Starting in the 4th chain from hook, work 1 Single Crochet (SC), *chain 1, skip next chain, SC in next. Repeat from * across until the end of the row. Chain 21 (for fringe) and turn.  

ROW 2: Begin in the second chain from the hook, work 1 SL ST into each of the next 20 sts. *CH 1, skip SC, SC into the ch 1 space. Repeat from * across the row. Work final SC in between the last SC and the turning chains. CH 21 and turn. 

TIP: to change colors, work the SL ST’s of the fringe first, pull through with new color on the last SL ST, CH 1 with new color and begin Moss Stitch. 

ROW 3: Begin in the second chain from the hook, work 1 SL ST into each of the next 20 sts. [change color on the last sl st here when chart calls for it] CH 1, skip SC, SC into the ch 1 space. Repeat from * across the row, making sure the last SC is worked around the CH 1 before the fringe. CH 21 and turn. 

Repeat Rows 2 through 3 following the color change chart for 23 rows.

Tie off by pulling last loop through and weave in the ends. And your scarf is finished!  For a little flair, I also tied a knot at the top of each fringe piece.
